From October 19-20, 2016, the 9th Baltic Sea Tourism Forum welcomed more than 150 tourism representatives in the seaside resort of P\u00e4rnu in Estonia. The conference was organised by the City of P\u00e4rnu, the University of Tartu\/P\u00e4rnu College, Enterprise Estonia (EAS), the Foundation P\u00e4rnumaa Tourism, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourist Board, the Ministry of Economics, Construction and Tourism Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in its role as the coordinator of Policy Area Tourism (EUSBSR) and an International experienced group of like-minded partners.<\/p>\n

Main subjects of the forum were seasonality and sustainability – two selected issues that have and will have considerable impact on the future development of the Baltic Sea region. The programme included key-notes, panel discussions and workshops to provide an understanding of the topics on regional, national and macro-regional level. Representatives of the UNWTO and the OECD will complement the discussions by global perspectives, e.g. with an outlook on 2017 and the Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.<\/p>\n

In addition, the forum provided a perfect platform for networking. The established Tourism Networking Village supports the exchange and encourages the encounter of tourism organisations, institutions and stakeholders that have a mutual interest in transnational cooperation.<\/p>\n

Moreover, with \u201cPEOPLE, STREETS, HOUSES\u201d, for the first time an exhibition provided interesting facts and figures of the cultural heritage of Baltic Sea resorts. Pre- and post-convention tours and a joint dinner on the first evening of the Forum complemented an exciting cultural programme.<\/p>\n

The Baltic Sea Tourism Forum<\/a> is the communication basis and exchange platform for tourism cooperation in the Baltic Sea region. It aims to promote dialogue, consensus building and a shared vision on the key challenges of tourism development around the Baltic Sea. The Forum has taken place since 2008 in different Baltic Sea countries.<\/p>\n

Estonia Resort Hotel & Spa 4*<\/a> is a spa and conference hotel located in P\u00e4rnu, Estonia. The hotel complex has a conference center that hosts more than 300 people, a unique spa and sauna center with nine different saunas, indoor pools and hot tubs where visitors can relax and reload their mind and body after intense business days. The location between two Baltic capitals Tallinn and Riga gives an advantage of better flight connections with an airport transfer time 1,5-2 hours.<\/p>\n
